URALCHEM Maintains Leading Positions

09.02.2015

Moscow, Russia - February 09, 2015. By the end of 2014, URALCHEM set the historical record for the production of ammonium nitrate and its derivatives, having reaching a total volume of gross output of 2 million 940 thousand tons. Compared with 2013, there was an increase of 5%, which has strengthened the leadership of URALCHEM in the manufacture of these products in Russia.

Urea production decreased by 2% to 1 million 110 thousand tons. At the same time, URALCHEM retains the second place in Russia for the production of urea. The production of ammonia increased by 1%, to 777 thousand tons.

In general, the production of URALCHEM’s main kinds of products at the end of 2014 was 5 million 645 thousand tons, which is 6.5% lower than a year earlier. The reduction in total output was due to a forced stop of the Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers Plant. In early 2014, the plant was transferred to the regime of temporary downtime due to termination of supply of the main raw material for the production of phosphate fertilizers (DAP / MAP) – apatite concentrate – by the monopolist (JSC Phosagro). In turn, the increase in output of the nitrogen segment has been achieved thanks to the work to increase the daily production of units at all plants of the groups, as well as to significantly reduce the terms of scheduled repairs to the MFP KCCW.

“In 2014, URALCHEM had to work in difficult conditions of negative externalities - a temporary stop of the Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers Plant due to lack of raw materials, and the unstable situation in the markets. The company has focused on improving the internal efficiency of business - the maintenance and development of existing facilities, increasing the efficiency of logistics operations, improving the quality of investment planning, and minimizing administrative costs. In the current economic situation, this strategy paid off handsomely,”- said Dmitry Konyaev, the Director General of URALCHEM.
