Kirovo-Chepetsk, Kirov Region, Russia – 18 September, 2009 года – URALCHEM, OJSC, (“the Company” or “URALCHEM”), one of the largest producers of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers in Russia and the CIS, today announced that on 18 September Aleksey Kubrin, the Deputy President’s Special Representative in the Volga Federal District visited Mineral Fertilizer Plant of Kirovo-Chepetsk Chemical Works, CJSC during his official trip to the Kirov Region.

In the course of his visit to MFP KCCW, CJSC Mr. Kubrin held a meeting with representatives from the regional administration, Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources, Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Atomic Supervision, senior managers of Mineral Fertilizer Plant of KCCW and Uralchem Management Company. Before the meeting Mr. Kubrin was shown around the enterprise, saw the actual condition of production and technological processes, and talked with the plant workers.

According to Aleksey Kubrin, Mineral Fertilizer Plant is very important for both Kirovo-Chepetsk and Kirov Region as a whole. He said: “In meeting with senior managers of Uralchem Management Company, I have seen that they are aware of the necessity to expand production, modernize the facilities and protect the environment and, furthermore, are able to find efficient solutions. Close attention is being paid to social issues, which I highly appreciate given the difficulties faced by the Russian economy presently”.

Sergey Shcherchkov, Deputy Head of Kirov Region Government added: “Of course we are interested in stability at the plant. We already see specific improvements in environmental activities at the plant: there are lower emissions, and more money – 650 million roubles - has been spent on ecological issues. This is a serious amount of money, which places it at second place with regards to such expenses in the Russian mineral fertilizer industry. This is one of the most important indicators for us. Here we see a successful enterprise that also bears a massive social load.”
