During the 2^nd Congress of Young Researchers held on 1-3 December in Sochi, Uralchem (the Company) and the Vavilov Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) signed a cooperation agreement for educational and R&D activities.

The agreement envisages joint fundamental and applied research, as well as internships for students of the institute at Uralchem’s production facilities.

There is always a growing need for implementing scientific innovations in production processes. Uralchem has been consistently investing in R&D and also in educational projects, which can be a source of new qualified talents for our organisation. We hope that this agreement will mark the beginning of long-term and fruitful partnership and will also enable us to attract young and talented researched to our team.

This agreement formalised and enabled further collaboration between the institute and Uralchem in those areas of common interest that we had been developing separately in our organisations. The first connection is the training of specialists for the sector of agricultural biotechnologies, which starts with general awareness and career guidance for school students all the way to advanced professional education. The second, and more important, connection is that we can offer a full working cycle in the agribiotechnology sector to create benefits for the real economy stemming from fundamental research.

The Congress of Young Researchers is organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Coordination Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education. The agenda of the Congress includes dozens of topic-specific sessions to discuss the current condition and future prospects of science, research and education. This year, delegates from over 40 countries are taking part in the event.
