June 6, 2011, Brussels, Belgium – Denis Baskakov, Head of the Trade Policy division of URALCHEM, was voted the European Fertilizer Import Association’s (EFIA) Vice-President within the Association’s General Assembly. As in 2009, Mr. Baskakov was unanimously supported by members of EFIA as the VP for the next 2 years.

URALCHEM joined EFIA in 2008. The main purpose of the Association is to join forces of both importers and exporters at the European fertilizers market to ultimately ensure favorable conditions for the import and international trade. EFIA plays a crucial role in establishing dialogue between the importers and the EU authorities. Association puts special emphasis on issues such as trade policy, fertilizer consumer protection, international agreements, novels and changes in the European legislation, as well as protection of the environment. As of this moment, EFIA comprises 15 leading members of the international fertilizers market and is headquartered in Brussels with Mr. Cees de Groot of Transammonia serving as its President.
