URALCHEM participates in IFA 2016

URALCHEM representatives attended the 84th annual conference of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), which was held in Russia for the first time. Participating in the conference were Dmitry Mazepin, Chairman of the URALCHEM Board of Directors, Dmitry Konyaev, URALCHEM CEO, and Rakhim Azimov, Deputy Director of the KCKK Branch for social aspects and communication with authorities.

Representatives of more than 400 companies from 70 countries across the globe gathered in Moscow for IFA 2016. With this year’s conference being hosted by Russia, Russian companies’ increasing role in the international market is underscored. According to an expert evaluation, Russia is one of the top five fertilizer manufacturers globally.

Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, welcomed participants to the conference. According to the Ministry, Russian fertilizers are competitive and dominate in exports of Russian chemical industry products. Sergei Tsyb, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, and Viktor Cherepov, Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, also participated in the opening ceremony of IFA 2016.

In 2015 and in the first half of 2016, negative developments in the global economy continued to adversely affect our industry. Accounting for the international trends, Russian manufacturers of fertilizers supported the government’s initiatives aimed at agriculture stimulation. We considerably reduced prices of fertilizers, which resulted in growth of the domestic demand. I am sure that joint efforts of all representatives of the industry will allow us to overcome the decline and to bolster our position,” said Dmitry Konyaev, URALCHEM General Director, and member of the IFA Board of Directors for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
