Presentation of Roadmap for the development of mineral fertilizer production in Russia held at SPIEF 2017
The Roadmap is being developed pursuant to the Russian Government Order of 18 May 2016 No. 954-r "On approval of the action plan for the implementation of the Chemical and Petrochemical Industry Development Strategy until 2030".
The Order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation approved the Interdepartmental Working Group that included representatives of regulating bodies, the State Duma, sectoral science, business leaders, as well as members of the Russian Fertilizer Producers Association (RFPA) and the Russian Chemists Union.
As suggested by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs' (RSPP) Commission for the Production and Marketing of Mineral Fertilizers and the company Strategy Partners Group, a group of industry experts was also established. Its task is to develop consolidated proposals on the composition of the Roadmap activities. The initiative was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The Roadmap outlines the main approaches and priority tasks for the development of the mineral fertilizer industry for the period up to 2025. The set of measures stipulated in the document provides for the development of domestic demand and support of export supplies of mineral fertilizers, stimulation of investment activities of manufacturers, contributions to infrastructure development and the improvement of technical and environmental regulation.
The presentation of the Roadmap was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsyb, Director General of JSC Russian Export Centre Petr Fradkov, Board Chairman of URALCHEM, Chairman of the RSPP Commission for the Production and Market of Mineral Fertilizers, RSPP Management Board member Dmitry Mazepin, CEO of URALCHEM Dmitry Konyaev and Partner of CJSC Strategy Partners Andrey Zauter.
Sergey Tsyb, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation: 'The production of mineral fertilizers, with a significant share in non-resource exports, is one of the key areas of the Russian chemical industry. Russian producers fully provide the domestic market with mineral fertilizers and have a serious potential for developing and strengthening their positions in the international market. The Roadmap for the development of mineral fertilizer production is a unique document that was prepared taking into account the wishes and initiatives of both manufacturers and consumers of these products. When preparing the Roadmap, we concentrated our efforts on developing the most transparent and clear conditions for domestic mineral fertilizer producers to comply with in the near future.'
To date, the document is being approved by the relevant ministries and is to be submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation in the autumn of 2017.
