Uralchem’s CEO Assesses Prospects of Potash Supply to Indonesia at SPIEF 2025

Dmitry Konyaev, the CEO of Uralchem, participated in the Russia-Indonesia business session at the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The event brought together key government and business representatives from both countries, including Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesian Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, as well as heads of chambers of commerce, and senior executives of major corporations.
Dmitry Konyaev highlighted that Uralkali, a part of Uralchem Group, had been supplying potash to Indonesia for 30 years. As the world’s largest palm oil producer — a crop critically dependent on this fertiliser — Indonesia relies heavily on such imports.
Prior to 2022, Russian potash held a 20% market share in Indonesia. However, this has since declined to 8–10%. Uralchem is now actively working to restore supply volumes through strengthening of partnerships with state-owned enterprises and expansion of its agricultural services, including consultancy support for local farmers.
Dmitry Konyaev, Uralchem CEO:
The potential signing of a free trade agreement between Indonesia and the EAEU could significantly boost supplies. We welcome this initiative as a gateway to mutually beneficial cooperation, including expanded trade and investment opportunities.
